A Summers Sunday Afternoon at the Club

The Club owns a number of dinghies, including Picos, Toppers, a Bosun and an Access. The Access is a sailing boat that was specifically designed to be suitable for disabled sailing. All these boats are available to hire to those members who would like to 'have a go' before deciding to buy their own boat.

We want to see these boats used as much as possible, they may be used for cruising around the lake or to take part in our racing program however please remember they are for the use and enjoyment of everyone so please note the rules below.

Use and Care of Club Boats

  • Only sail in conditions in which you feel comfortable

  • Please Look after the Boat as if it were your own

  • Enter every use in the Log Book along with the payment due. Enter it even if your money has already been taken - just mark it paid in the book

Fees:

These are only to cover insurance, maintenance and replacement of the Boats

  • £2 per Hour, £5 for a half day

Monies may be left in the cash box of the snack bar or handed to any committee member.

If others want to use a boat please swap after one hour

After Every Sail Please:
  • Clean the Sails and Hull as required
  • Loosen all Ropes and coil them in the Boats
  • Store the Sails and loose Gear in the Containers
  • Fit the Cover securely
  • Tie the Boat down in its space
If you experience any problems or notice any damage please write it in the Log. We can't fix it if we don't know about it!

Thank you for your Co-operation and Care

The Toppers

A Club Topper

The Topper is a single Handed boat ideal for youngsters and beginners. The Rig is simple to master and the boat construction very durable - You can make the odd mistake and not break it!

The Picos

Club Picos

The Picos, may be sailed either as a single Handed boat or by a crew of two. It also has two rig options. Single sailed like the Topper or with a Jib and mainsail as seen in these photos.

The Bosun

The Club Bosun

The Bosun is an older boat of traditional construction. It is a large and more stable boat and therefore good for beginners to go out with a more experienced sailor. It is also more suitable for Adults than the other smaller boats.

The Access

Publicity Photo of the Acess

The Access is a small and easily handled boat. It was originally designed to help disabled sailors take part in Sailing. The club has one of these boats.

Please contact us if you want to know more about it and what help there might be available to use it.
