 In glorious sunshine and lovely wind from the south-east, starting out at force 2, and rising to a perfect 3 gusting 4, sixteen visitors – from as far away as Glasgow – joined nine home boats for the Welton SC Streaker Open meeting on Saturday 25th April, demonstrating once again the rising status of this A few messages to keep everybody informed about our current activities:- Streaker Open Meeting. This took place last Saturday in lovely sunny weather and a nice Force 2-4 fresh SE wind. We had 25 boats attend which allowed close competitive racing with good starts and no protests making it an enjoyable day for everybody. Well done to All members should have received their membership renewal forms, please complete these by 30th May by returning them to Karen Hood. Access to the water is not permitted until payment of this year’s membership has been sent with a signed copy of the Insurance Indemnity Form. There has had to be a small increase in the The week before the Racing Season starts, we have a Working Party arranged from 10.00 am on Sunday 28th March. During the day we plan to launch all the jetties and carry out further cleaning of the boat park and lawn areas. There is also some HP cleaning work to do so if there are The 2010 Racing Season starts on Easter Sunday 4th April so now is the time Steve Abbott our Sailing Secretary has prepared the Racing Programme and all he RYA Basic Racing Rules Evening at Humber Yawl Club Brough Clubhouse organised in association with Welton Sailing Club Thursday April 15th 2010 at 7.30p.m A fun and informative presentation by Carol Haines, Y & H Racing Rules Adviser, on the Racing Rules of Sailing. We have arranged two training days this year for new members on Saturday 29th May and 18th September. If members feel they want further training Mike Burton in conjunction with other members will organise individual sessions. Over 40 members attended the Launch Supper on 11th March where Hull College students prepared and served an excellent meal. Highlight of the evening was the celebration of the Commodore’s 60th birthday to a rousing chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ and a nice chocolate cake with candles. This was most un-expected and it was great for This was held on Thursday 25th February to elect new Officers following the resignation of Peter Hirschfeld as Commodore. The following people were elected as officers:- Bernard Wells – Commodore The position of Vice Commodore remains vacant. Now the festive season is over we can start to plan for the year ahead, will we at last get some stable summer weather?
